Or at Least Our Small Corner.
You see, County Corp is a non profit that’s on a mission to improve the lives of many in the Dayton community by providing low income housing solutions and services for low to moderate income families. We can only accomplish our mission because we have a staff of dedicated super heroes.
We’re looking for a side kick!
County Corp was recently awarded a VISTA position with our Affordable Housing Program. That means that we can hire a side kick to assist our super heroes.
VISTA Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a non profit organization or public agency. They focus their efforts to build the organizational, administrative, and financial capacity of organizations that fight illiteracy, improve health services, foster economic development, and otherwise assist low-income communities.
Our side kick will assist with neighborhood input into the work we do by surveying residents, holding community charrettes, meeting with and helping to organize neighborhood groups and helping County Corp market our program specifically to residents in neighborhoods where we are active. This will build our capacity to help refine our programming to best meet the needs of our residents.
This work will further our mission of providing affordable housing opportunities. Because our housing is safe, energy efficient and visit able and/or fully accessible we allow our residents to have more discretionary income which helps combat poverty.
County Corp’s VISTA will receive a modest living allowance and either an end of service education award or monetary stipend. VISTAS receive health insurance and qualify as non competitive applicants for federal employment. VISTAS commit to working 37.5 hours a week for the year and can attend school part-time or work part-time as they serve and may be eligible for relocation expenses.
