Why are we planting trees?

There are many real benefits to planting trees in urban areas, including:

  • People with access to urban forests have improved mental and physical health
  • Urban forests promote physical activity
  • Children and adults with regular exposure to urban forests have improved academic performance
  • Urban forests promote social cohesion
  • Areas with urban forests benefit from decreased crime rates

This educational experience connects community members and partners to the benefits of an urban forest. The hour long event with Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) tree experts will include active engagement in the tree planting process and learning about the value of urban forestry in our neighborhoods.
